I'd love to do videos at some point but I just haven't had the time to learn how. (I know.I need to ditch Audacity and get a better DAW.looking at Reaper.but I'm still going to have the same problems with latency and the fact that ASIO needs to use the same input and output)

Or is there a way I can do this with just the gear I have now? Maybe using the GE300's headphone out and connecting my PC speakers or a set of headphones to it so I can use it as the input and output in Audacity? It can't be that hard! What do I need to do so I can record a standalone modeler like the GE300 into my PC in such a way that I can hear the backing track and the track I'm recording through the PC speakers at the same time with no latency ?ĭo I need to get an external interface like a Focusrite Solo, configure it with ASIO drivers, then connect my PC speakers directly to it so it acts as both the input and monitoring output and I hear everything through the Focusrite? I've seen a million videos of people recording their modelers to backing tracks using their PCs.

I've tried running the GE300's USB out into the PC, then the GE300's regular output into the FX return of a regular guitar amp, and doing this I get the audio from the backing tracks and my recorded guitar track coming out of the GE300 into my guitar amp and cab but that sounds like complete crap. The input and monitoring output are both the GE300.

I've installed ASIO drivers but when I use those, I can't use ASIO as the input and my PC speakers as the output. With the TH30 and Vox Adio, I could listen to the amp directly, not through the PC, so obviously there was no latency when playing (the latency that happened with the recorded signal was not audible to me because I was listening to the amp directly, not monitoring it through the PC, and the latency offset in Audacity would correct it when I played back the recorded track). So naturally because it's a standalone modeler and not a modeling amp like the TH30, when I connect it via USB to my PC, the only way to hear it is to monitor it through Audacity, which creates a lot of latency.

I bought it to use primarily as an effects unit for gigs, as a replacement or backup to a Line 6 HXFX, but since it's also a full blown modeler, I want to use it for recording to. I'm actually pretty psyched because it's my first true modeler and seems to get great reviews and sounds great on the vids I've seen. So far so good.īut I just picked up a Mooer GE300 Lite which is a full fledged standalone modeler and FX unit, but not an amp. Inside Audacity, I've adjusted the latency offset setting so my recorded track syncs with the backing track. Mostly what I've done is import pre-recorded backing tracks and recorded my own guitar tracks over them.īecause of the USB latency I've used the amps own speakers to hear the guitar and then monitored the backing track through my PC speakers. I've also recorded guitar tracks into my PC using a TH30 and Vox Adio Air GT going into the computer via regular USB cable. I've recorded using standard standalone multitrack recorders.

We have opened a discussion thread in the Pub section discussing this. We will include a very detailed password checklist. We want to highly recommend that members turn on and use TGP's two-factor authentication option. We highly recommend every member reading this change their passwords as a precaution. We have forced email revalidation for all members that have not signed on for a while. None of the accounts compromised were using two-factor authentication. Talking to one member as I am working through getting his account back in order, he informed me that his Apple password manager had been compromised and made available on the dark web. In today's world, that is false confidence you can no longer afford.Įvery account that I've restored so far to the original owner was using compromised passwords. It is heartbreaking to see that the lure of saving some money will still fool people into using those methods to save a few dollars. Unfortunately, we cannot control how members do deals. However, the best way to prevent this is for members to exercise proper password hygiene (which I'll detail below), turn on two-factor authentication, and - I implore every single person here - only use payment methods that have buyer protection. We've made security changes that I don't want to detail here to stop them. They have scammed members in the Emporiums by creating ads with stolen photos and requesting Paypal F&F or Venmo exclusively for payment. Some fraudsters have compromised TGP accounts have in the past few days.
